This is such a practical and beautiful style of bag, so easy to wear and use, to take out on multiple occasion. It is very hardwearing, repelent to rain and looks stylish no matter what you're doing, or where you're going. A good, all around fabulous bag, designed and made by me in my workshop at home.
The thing that sets this style of bag apart from the rest is the back of it. From the front is is an unasuming bag, but from the back there is more to see and do. This bag can be a handbag or a rucksack, depending on your day and what you're doing. When used as a handbag, just use the handles and off you go. My customers have told me they want a bag where no one can tamper with the zip or opening and steel items from inside, so that's where this bag comes in. The zip has two zip pulls, meaning it can't be opened easily from the top, whilst being worn, meaning you would most definitely feel it if somebody was trying to. This bag is great for the airport, for crowded places and shopping.
Inside is a gorgeous lining made using cotton fabric, and there is a zip pocket for your valuables inside too. It's a deceptively roomy bag, with a small pocket on the back to store your rucksack straps when not in use, if you wish. You can of course just carry this bag on your shoulder. The Harris Tweed seam label, provides authenticity of the fabric.
The design of this bag took quite a few weeks, working out suitable dimensions, placements of specific parts and items required and took around three 'goes' to get the where I was satisfied. I can now make one in a day, if I work full on. The longest part is the preparation, it can take me 2-3 hours just to prepare, measure, cut, press and interface all the fabric required and there is just as much hidden inside the bag as out in interfacing and stabilisers. All stress areas are triple (sometimes quadruple) stitched and so should never fail. I use high quality webbing, hardwears and fabrics for durability too - this bag should last a lifetime if used with care. I make all my items with due care and attention to detail.
